The Final Chapter of the Test summer takes place from Wednesday 9 September, with limited tickets remaining for the first three days. If you’ve already purchased tickets for the Pakistan test, you have access to priority tickets for next year’s Ashes fixtures taking place at Edgbaston. In the eight previous Tests between the two teams, Pakistan are yet to triumph, however there have been several stand-out moments from Pakistan players at The People’s Home of Cricket in that time.

2016 – Azhar Ali (139)
The last Test match between Pakistan and England at Edgbaston went right down to the wire, with England eventually bowling Pakistan out on the final day to earn a 141-run win. That doesn’t tell the full story though. The visitors held a 103-run lead after the first innings, thanks largely to a brilliant 139 by Azhar Ali, who batting at three, came in during the first over of their innings. Alongside Sami Aslam, they put on 181 for the second wicket against an England attack that included Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Chris Woakes and Steven Finn.
Ali batted for over six hours and faced 293 balls before he was eventually dismissed by Woakes.
1982 – Imran Khan (7-52)
Right-arm quick, Imran Khan, made a statement in the First Test of the 1982 series at Edgbaston after England had won the toss and elected to bat. Derek Randall was the first to fall to Khan with the score on 29, before he picked up the key wickets of David Gower and Ian Botham. He would go on to take seven for 52 as he helped dismiss England for 272. Khan bowled 25 overs at pace, bowling 11 maidens in the process.
Edgbaston would remain a happy hunting ground for Khan. He was back five years later when Pakistan returned for the next Test series, taking six for 129 from 41 overs in the first innings.
1987 – Mudassar Nazar (124)
After draws in the opening two games of the five-Test 1987 series, Pakistan arrived at Edgbaston one-nil up in the series following a dominant victory at Headingley. They were put into bat by the hosts on day one, with opening batter Mudassar Nazar providing a platform for Pakistan to retain their one-nil series advantage. Nazar batted through the opening day, finishing 102 not out at its close before being dismissed the following morning for 124 off 362 balls. The Test would end in a third draw of the series at Edgbaston, and Pakistan would go on to famously win the series one-nil.
1992 – Javed Miandad & Saleem Malik (322-run partnership)
In 1992, Edgbaston hosted the first Test of the series, with Pakistan making a statement in the first innings. Rain on day one ensured no play was possible, however when play got under way on day two, Javed Miandad and Saleem Malik were at their best. Against an England bowling attack that contained the likes of Ian Botham, Phil Defreitas, Chris Lewis and Derek Pringle, the duo combined to put on 322 runs for the fourth wicket. Miandad ended the innings unbeaten on 153 off 337 balls, while Malik was eventually dismissed by Defreitas for 165 off 297 deliveries.
1971 – Zaheer Abbas (274)
One of the finest innings by a Pakistan player at Edgbaston, Zaheer Abbas was in imperious form during the first Test of the 1971 series. Batting at number three, he would remain at the crease for nine hours and face 467 balls for his 274. His outstanding knock, combined with hundreds from Mushtaq Mohammad (100) and Asif Iqbal (104*) would catapult Pakistan to 608 for seven before they declared. Despite Abbas’ efforts, the match would end in a draw, with England, who had been asked to follow on, batting out the remaining time with no play possible on the final day.
