Warwickshire Women to Unveil Historic First Honours Board

Warwickshire County Cricket Club will unveil its first-ever Women's Honours Board at Edgbaston on Thursday 3 September, recognising the players who have represented the county's Women's 1st XI since the first known Warwickshire Women's match against Australia in 1937.

The board has been created following months of research and will permanently celebrate nearly 90 years of women's cricket heritage in the county. It will honour generations of players across four distinct eras of the game:

The Warwickshire Women's pioneers who represented the county between 1937 and 1965.

The West Midlands Women era from 1965 to 2000.

Warwickshire Women players from 2001 onwards, including both amateur and professional players.

Central Sparks players who represented the region between 2020 and 2024.

The unveiling will take place in the Women's Dining Room, adjacent to the Women's Performance Hub in the Wyatt Stand, from 8.30am, ahead of Bears Women's final home match of the season against Essex. Guests will be invited to attend the ceremony, hear from speakers, and enjoy tea, coffee and brunch before the match.

While extensive work has gone into researching those who have represented Warwickshire Women at 1st XI level, the Club is keen to ensure the historical record is as accurate and complete as possible.

If you have played for Warwickshire Women or Birmingham Bears Women at 1st XI level, or if you know someone who has, we would love to hear from you. The Club is particularly interested in hearing from former players, family members, teammates and friends who may be able to help verify records, share memories and reconnect former players with this special occasion.

We are also seeking additional information, photographs, memorabilia and personal stories that can help preserve the history of women's cricket in Warwickshire for future generations.
