Wylie to leave Warwickshire at end of season

Warwickshire County Cricket Club can confirm that Theo Wylie will leave the Club when his contract expires at the end of this season.

Wylie signed his first professional contract for the Bears ahead of the 2024 season and has made five List A appearances since, scoring his maiden 50 against Northants in the Metro Bank One Day Cup earlier this season.

With limited first team opportunities, Wylie has gained experience in the Second XI, helping the team to T20 Cup success in each of the last two seasons.

Head Coach, Ian Westwood, said: “It’s always really pleasing to bring players through from our own pathway into the professional ranks. Theo has worked hard during his time with Warwickshire in the pathway and subsequently the professional squad, however competition for places and the progress of others, have meant opportunities have been limited unfortunately.

“We wish him well with his next chapter at university and with the next steps in his cricketing journey.”

Speaking about his time at the Club, Wylie said: “It will be incredibly tough to say farewell as Edgbaston has been my home for almost seven years.

“From coming up through the Academy to signing my first contract I will look back on these times with immense pride and enjoyment.”

Warwickshire would like to place on record their thanks to Theo for his commitment to the Club and wish him the best of luck in the next stage of his career.
