Cricket Collective Awards 2026 to take place at Edgbaston Stadium

Edgbaston Stadium will host the 2026 edition of the Cricket Collective Awards this week, celebrating the enormous contributions of club cricket volunteers from around the county

Edgbaston Stadium this week will play host to a number of cricket club volunteers from across the region when the Cricket Collective Awards ceremony takes place.

While on the pitch at Edgbaston Warwickshire will be aiming to clinch County Championship silverware by beating Leicestershire, away from the field of play champions will be celebrated for their contributions and dedication to club cricket and its many facets when the Awards event takes place on Friday.

There are 13 awards up for grabs and Warwickshire Cricket Foundation have received more than 40 nominations across all of the categories, which include recognition for coaches, ground-staff and life-time achievers.

We will also welcome individuals of all ages and backgrounds - the nominees are as young as 16 but others are in their 70s and 80s. Here is a run-through of each Award and a summary of their criteria.

Cricket Collective Champion

Somebody who, simply put, works to make sure recreational cricket happens and will go out of their way to support fellow volunteers at the club. They will recruit new faces to the team and help to create a welcoming and friendly environment.

Young Cricket Collective Champion

This award is for volunteers between the ages of 14 and 25 who have made a notable contribution to their club as well as leading by example when acting as a positive role model for other youngsters in the team.

Official of the Year

Umpires and scorers can often be taken for granted and their services considered a given on a match-day, but this award is dedicated to their efforts which ensure that a match is able to be played in the first place. The award-winning official will have demonstrated respect and fairness and is passionate about supporting the development of others.

Newcomer of the Year

This is someone who will be new to cricket volunteering and yet has made an instant impact in their club or community by going above and beyond when asked or when an extra pair of hands are required. This winner will have shown an infectious enthusiasm to help and will have seamlessly integrated into their club.

Coach of the Year

As the title of the award suggests, the coach of the side is acknowledged and commended for their role in developing players and ensuring that cricket remains an all-inclusive sport in which anyone can participate, in a safe and supportive environment.

Lifetime Services to Coaching

Dedicated to someone who has worked hard to develop and nurture not only players of all ages, but help to mentor fellow coaches too.

Grounds Management Team of the Year

Those who go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that teams who utilise the cricket ground have a safe and quality pitch, as well as up-to-standard facilities, to host matches throughout the season.

Sustainability Innovator

This award is presented to a person who, or a club which, has led efforts to oversee a transformation in approach towards the local environment and brought about change to the cricket sustainable. That can also extend to raising awareness of climate change in the local community.

Raising The Game

Cricket is an inclusive sport and the Raising The Game winner will have demonstrated exceptional efforts to make all within a club, no matter the background, feel welcome and involved, as well as helping to introduce new participants and communities to cricket.

League Legend

A league administrator or volunteer who goes above and beyond to support local clubs and competitions and ensure healthy participation levels.

Metro Bank Champion of Girls’ Cricket

Somebody who has helped to create opportunities for girls to play cricket and support their development, but also open doors for them to coach and lead sessions outside of playing.

Unsung Hero

That individual at your club whose work often goes unnoticed but who, simply, would be missed deeply if they weren't there. The Unsung Hero carries out all sorts of voluntary work and this Award recognises those priceless contributions.
