The Bears won two of their three fixtures at Rugby last year and will be hoping to begin this year’s Festival in the same vein when play begins at 11:00am.
Last outing
Warwickshire secured their first win of the 2026 Metro Bank One Day Cup by impressing in all three facets of the game against Surrey on Wednesday. Club captain, Ed Barnard, returned to the side after being release by Sunrisers Leeds and struck a brilliant 140, with Vansh Jani and Zen Malik also hitting 50s as the Bears posted an impressive 340.
Olly Hannon-Dalby then starred with the ball, taking five for 60, while there was also a first List A wicket for 16-year-old Charlie Taylor and some outstanding work in the field by George Garton that helped to see Surrey all out for 296 and secure a 45-run win for the Bears.
Similarly to Warwickshire, Gloucestershire also picked up their first win of the competition last time out, doing so with a comprehensive six-wicket win over Kent.
After electing to bowl first, Gloucestershire bowled Kent out for 208 with Will Williams and Luke Charlesworth both taking three wickets apiece. A 148-run opening partnership between James Bracey (83) and Cameron Bancroft (89 not out) then helped Gloucestershire ease to the total four down.
Previous meeting
The two teams last met in 50-over cricket in 2024, and it was Warwickshire that came out on top on that occasion. Ed Barnard, Michael Booth and Taz Ali all took three wickets each as Gloucestershire were dismissed in the final over their innings for 267.
Barnard then starred with the bat, hitting a brilliant, unbeaten 152 off 134 balls as the Bears reached the total with 13 balls of the innings remaining.
Bear to watch
Vansh Jani
In the last game, Vansh Jani struck his second List A 50. His unbeaten 66 came off 45 balls and showcased why the 21-year-old is so highly rated. That innings helped to propel the team to a winning total, and he’ll be hoping to build on that against Gloucestershire when play gets under way.
