Birmingham Phoenix posted a competitive 162/4 thanks to half-centuries from Joe Clarke and Sean Dickson, but were beaten by seven wickets as London Spirit produced a powerful run chase.
Phoenix recovered impressively from a measured start with the bat, but a partnership between Liam Livingstone and Dewald Brevis ultimately proved decisive as Spirit chased down the target.
Phoenix were restricted to 25/1 from the opening 25-ball powerplay and needed 49 deliveries to bring up their first 50.
Joe Clarke and Sean Dickson then provided the acceleration, combining for a 50-run partnership from just 27 balls to put the Phoenix innings back on track.
Clarke reached his half-century from 30 deliveries, striking two fours and four sixes, while Dickson followed with an even quicker fifty from 27 balls, including four fours and three sixes.
Phoenix passed 100 after 74 deliveries before a strong finish took the hosts beyond 150 after 97 balls and to a competitive 162/4 from their 100.
Spirit made a fast start to the chase, reaching 48/2 from their 25-ball powerplay and passing 50 two deliveries later.
Phoenix had opportunities after claiming those two early wickets, but Brevis and Livingstone took control of the contest with an aggressive third-wicket partnership.
The pair brought up their first 50 together from only 25 balls, with Brevis contributing 29 from 17 deliveries and Livingstone 17 from eight.
Spirit reached 100 after 49 balls and went into the 50-ball strategic timeout on 103/2, requiring another 60 for victory.
Livingstone then accelerated further, reaching his half-century from just 21 deliveries with five fours and three sixes. His partnership with Brevis reached 100 from 46 balls as Phoenix searched for a breakthrough.
Livingstone was eventually dismissed for 66 from 30 balls, having struck seven fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 220.00.
Brevis continued the chase, completing his half-century from 30 deliveries and finishing unbeaten on 55 from 31, with five fours and three sixes.
Spirit passed 150 after 70 balls before completing the chase with seven wickets in hand, bringing an end to a difficult evening for Phoenix despite strong contributions with the bat from Clarke and Dickson.
