Birmingham Phoenix host SunRisers Leeds in their penultimate home fixture of the campaign on Friday 7 August, with the Women’s game starting at 3:00pm before the Men’s action gets under way at 6:30pm.

Phoenix form

Phoenix Women will be looking to return to winning ways after losing to high-flying Trent Rockets on Wednesday. Put into bat, Phoenix scored 122 for 7 from their 100 balls, but Sophia Dunkley – the competition’s leading run-scorer, led Rockets to victory with 65 at the top of the order to win with 16 balls to spare.

The Men will also be looking for a response after falling to their fourth defeat in a row in Nottingham on Wednesday. Again put into bat, they managed a below-par 111 for 6, with Joe Clarke’s 62 from 45 the highlight, before Trent Rockets eased to their target from 83 balls.

Phoenix stars to watch

Emma Lamb

Emma Lamb made the most of her first opportunity of the campaign with an impressive 45 from 34 balls against Trent Rockets on Wednesday. She’s been forced to wait for her opportunity, but made the most of it with a well-made innings and she’ll be looking to do the same on her first outing at Edgbaston on Friday.

Usman Tariq

The Pakistani spinner has proven to be a fan-favourite in the Phoenix colours, with his showmanship style entertaining the crowds both home and away. However, don’t let the character fool you; Tariq is a skilled operator and has been a key figure in the Phoenix bowling attack by restricting scoring opportunities and chipping in with wickets.

The opposition

Both SunRisers Men and Women currently sit mid-table and are in with a chance of qualifying for the Eliminator.

Last time out, Harry Brook shone with a sensational 15-ball fifty as Sunrisers posted the highest total in Hundred history in their 37-run win against London Spirit.

Having been put in to bat at Headingley, opener Ryan Rickelton also struck 94 not out off 42 balls in Sunrisers' astonishing 241-2.

The Women’s side also secured victory at Headingley, surpassing London Spirit’s total of 136-7 with two balls to spare, with Annabel Sutherland steering them home with an unbeaten 37 from 21 balls.
