The opening-batter made a vital contribution in last week’s 57-run win over Yorkshire, hitting a brilliant 94 from 114 deliveries at the top of the order.
Austin, who is now closing in on 400 runs in the 50-over competition, was pleased to contribute to a much-needed win that saw the Bears climb up to third in the table with four games remaining.
“It was really nice to get out there with everyone and obviously everyone performed well,” she said. “It gives us some momentum to take into the next couple of games.
“A few of us had different playing experiences with The Hundred, so it’s nice that we came back together, with some having not played that much, and still being able to get a win.
“It’s always nice to get some runs. I learned a lot from the innings I played too, and it was good that we came out on the right side of the result.”
With The Blaze and Hampshire clear at the top of the table, Warwickshire are looking to consolidate third place with another positive result. Should they finish third after the remaining four games, they would progress to the elimination match against the team that ends the campaign in second.
As the season reaches a crucial stage, 21-year-old Austin, who is enjoying her best season to date with the Bears, is hoping a win against a formidable side like The Blaze could instil more confidence for the run-in.
“I think it’s my third professional year now, so it’s good to get some good performances in and play more of a part in the team setup,” she added.
“I’m learning a lot. If you look at this season in the 50-over competition compared to last season, I feel like I’m playing at a much better tempo, and that’s just from experience and playing.
“The Blaze are top at the moment, but I think if we can stick to our processes and be as positive as we can, it’ll put us in a good position to come out on top. If we do get a win, it’ll give us great confidence going into the back end of the season.”
Play gets under way between Warwickshire Women and The Blaze at 10:30am on Wednesday 26 August at Edgbaston.
