Phoenix form
Both Phoenix teams fell to defeat last time out against London Spirit at Lord’s, with the Women losing by 32 runs and the Men by seven wickets.
Spirit put on 140/4 from their 100 balls and despite Davina Perrin anchoring the top of the innings with 29 from 28 balls and another impressive knock by Emma Lamb with 36 from 26, the Phoenix could only reach 108/8.
The Men, meanwhile, posted what felt like a defendable 162/4 after another impressive knock by Joe Clarke (73 from 42) and an explosive 51 not out from Sean Dickson, but the partnership between Liam Livingstone (66, 30) and Dewald Brevis (55*) proved a match winning one with 18 balls to spare.
Phoenix stars to watch
Emma Lamb
Having scored runs in each of her three appearances since breaking into the team at Trent Bridge last week, Lamb is definitely the player in form when it comes to those in Phoenix colours.
Donovan Ferreira
The Phoenix skipper showed at Lord’s the danger he possesses, as he got the opportunity to show his quality as a finisher. Coming in with nine balls remaining, the South African bludgeoned 14 from five balls at a strike rate of 280, something he’ll be looking for more of against MI London.
Opposition form
MI London arrive at Edgbaston off the back of their own double loss against Trent Rockets. The Women, like Phoenix, are unable to qualify for The Eliminator but the Men are still in with a chance. They need to win and improve their net run rate (0.262) to a better total than SunRisers Leeds (0.603). Time for Phoenix to spoil the party…
