Phoenix Men produced an outstanding display with the bat to beat Trent Rockets on Friday. They tied the record for the most sixes in a single The Hundred innings, powering their way to the second highest score in the history of the competition.

Their ten run win was also the highest-scoring fixture in The Hundred history.

Phoenix Women fell to a disappointing opening defeat, losing by nine wickets to an inspired Trent Rockets at Edgbaston. There’s no better time for them to bounce back than against the Super Giants.

Phoenix stars to watch

Joe Clarke – Clarke was at his best at Edgbaston on Friday, getting the Phoenix’s competition off to an incredible start. Opening the batting he hit four huge sixes and seven fours in his score of 68 which came off only 33 balls.

Ellyse Perry – The captain of Phoenix Women and one of the best batters in world cricket, Perry top scored for the Phoenix on Friday and will be hoping to set the tone again against the Super Giants.

The opposition

Manchester Super Giants, much like the Phoenix, have some of the world’s best players in their teams, with both men’s and women’s sides making a winning start to this year’s The Hundred.

With stars including Meg Lanning, Jos Butler, Mady Villiers, Aiden Markram, Sophie Ecclestone, Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue, both the men’s and women’s teams are equally as strong.
