Supremely talented left-handed batter and left-arm off spinner, Jacob Bethell, has been one of the most talked-about players in world cricket in recent years. Born in Barbados, Bethell came to Warwickshire aged 12 as part of the Club’s relationship with Rugby School and its Director of Cricket, former Bears’ captain Michael Powell. After playing age-group cricket for the county, Bethell signed professional terms in 2021 as a 17-year-old before making his T20 Blast debut later that year. In 2024, he announced himself with impressive showings in the Blast for the Bears and in The Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix, leading to his first England call-ups. He’s since gone from strength-to-strength, becoming the first male cricketer to score each of his maiden centuries in first-class, List A and T20 cricket in international matches, with his first-class ton coming in the first innings of the fifth Ashes Test at the SCG.
