Team news

Warwickshire make one change to the squad that faced Northants on Tuesday, with 16-year-old quick Charlie Taylor coming into the squad in place of Jake Lintott.

Bears squad: Sam Hain, Rob Yates, Olly Hannon-Dalby, Ethan Bamber, Taz Ali, Theo Wylie, Charlie Taylor, Zen Malik, Vansh Jani, Kai Smith, Alex Davies, George Garton, Jake Garlick.

Last outing

On a good batting pitch and with a lightning outfield at the cinch County Ground, Warwickshire’s 312 runs weren’t enough to earn victory in their opening game of the competition against Northants on Tuesday. Sam Hain and Theo Wylie both hit half-centuries, and a good performance by Taz Ali (two for 52) with the ball couldn’t see the Bears to victory as they were beaten by five-wickets with eight balls remaining.

Notts meanwhile started their campaign off with a win, doing so in impressive fashion against Somerset. Having restricted Somerset to 258 for nine from their 50 overs, Notts knocked it off six wickets down, and with five overs remaining.

Previous meeting

This will be the 51st time the two teams have met in List A matches, with Notts just edging the head-to-head record with 26 wins to the Bears’ 23.

The last time the two teams met was in the 2024 group stages with Notts winning by five wickets in a rain-affected game. Warwickshire batted first and were bowled out for 182, before an unbeaten 57 from Jack Haynes saw Notts reach 135 for five before rain stopped play. With no more play possible, Notts were awarded the win after being 12 runs ahead of the required Duckworth-Lewis rate.

Bear to watch

Theo Wylie

The right-handed batter made his first List A half-century on Tuesday, scoring 65 as part of a 104-run third wicket stand with Hain. Wylie is also a useful operator with the ball with his left-arm off-spin.
