Mousley (23) and 20-year-old Bethell – who’ve progressed through the Bears Youth Pathway and Academy – have been named in England’s white-ball squads to face Australia next month.
Both have been selected for the three-match Vitality IT20 series starting at the Utilita Bowl, Southampton, on 11 September, while Bethell has also been included in Jos Buttler’s 15-man squad for the five Metro Bank ODIs that get underway on 19 September.
The all-rounders have England Under-19 and England Lions honours but it’s the first time either has made the senior England squad.
“The whole Club is proud,” said Robinson. “They are outstanding individuals, different characters, but both great prospects. It’s fantastic to see them in a full England squad.
“They both have ambitions to play for England in all formats and how they look to take the game on will fit the McCullum-Stokes Test team ethos when the time is right.
“At the moment, with the white ball reset that’s happening with the national side, the timing is perfect for them to be part of Jos Buttler’s squad. They both bat aggressively, field brilliantly and bowl which is just what England need right now.
“A lot of people will have played roles in their development through their school, local cricket clubs and at Warwickshire through our Pathway and Academy. Lots of people who’ve been around them and helped bring them on.
“I’ve spoken to them, they’re both chuffed obviously. The first thing Dan said to me was ‘will I be able to play in Finals Day if we get there’ which was brilliant and shows the passion he has for the Club.”
Both will be available to play in Bears’ Vitality Blast Quarter Final against Gloucestershire on Friday 6 September but, should they progress, it’s unclear if either or both will be released for Finals Day.
Mousley – who made his Warwickshire debut in July 2019 – has played 77 times for Warwickshire across all formats, including 43 T20s where he averages nearly 30 and has eight half-centuries to his name.
Bethell – who made his Bears debut aged 17 in June 2021 – has represented Warwickshire on 63 occasions and has hit four 50s in his 32 T20 outings for the Club.
Five uncapped players have been selected for the 15-strong IT20 squad with Essex batter Jordan Cox, Leicestershire seamer Josh Hull, and Hampshire fast bowler John Turner joining Mousley and Bethell.
