A remarkable effort from the groundstaff ensured Warwickshire were able to build on their pre-season tour to Cape Town with some more time in the middle.
With March recording heavy rainfall, the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground stood up to adversity as 100 overs were possible on the opening day.
Worcestershire made 217/4 dec from their 50 overs with Danny Briggs taking 3/39. The spinner, who is returning from knee surgery, followed up with 58* (53 balls, 10x4, 2x6) alongside Academy batter Daniyal Khan who added 56* (134 balls, 4x4, 1x6) for a partnership of 80.
A few miles east, Alex Davies led the Bears with 64 (11×4, 1×6) as Edgbaston played host to an invaluable 90 overs.
