Craig Miles bowled a penultimate over wicket-maiden as the Bears won a nail-biter against local rivals Worcestershire Rapids at Bromsgrove School.

The seamer with 55 T20 career appearances to his name, held his nerve to swing the momentum back to the Bears favour.

On 150/7, Rapids needed 12 from 12, but Miles' brilliance and Michael Booth's calmness -six runs and wicket from the final ball - restricted the hosts to 156/9 from their allotted 20 overs, six runs short.

Ahead of a busy week of T20 - Bears face Steelbacks at Edgbaston on Thursday and Rapids at New Road on Friday - a number of senior figures got valuable match time in a tense contest.

Choosing to bat first, Bears reached 161/7 with Amir Khan (46), Will Rhodes (31) and Hamza Shaikh (25) making contributions, but it was a good test for the seamers.

Rising to the challenge, the visitors restricted Worcestershire 156/9 from their allotted overs, taking regular wickets throughout the middle overs.

With an experienced batting line-up, Rapids were 76/3 after eight overs, but they were unable to get over the line with the closers tightening the runs at the back end.
