Preview: Warwickshire v Leicestershire Foxes, Royal London Cup

Warwickshire face Leicestershire in the Royal London Cup at Edgbaston seeking to build on the momentum of an excellent victory over Derbyshire at Derby.

Led by a high-class maiden List A century from Ed Pollock, the depleted Bears outplayed Derbyshire yesterday to win by eight wickets and open their RLC points account at the third attempt.

Another victory over the Foxes tomorrow would put Will Rhodes's side right back in the mix for qualification for the knockout stage.

"It was a great win for us at Derby," said Pollock. "We realised that we had made a slow start in the competition and maybe should have won at least one of the first two games, so it was important for us to get a win on the board and put ourselves back in contention.

"I was very pleased to score a century. You could say it has been a while coming and I have owed the team a few runs over the years, but it was just very pleasing to get the job done and be there at the end. One of my targets at the start of the year was to see off a few run chases."

Another star of the win at Derby was debutant spinner Karl Carver, signed on a short-term deal on the eve of the match to shore up a Bears bowling department missing 12 senior bowlers.

Carver took an impressive two for 35 to put himself in contention for a home debut against the Foxes tomorrow.
