Warwickshire First Team Coach Mark Robinson is waiting on the fitness of Alex Davies as the Bears Vice Captain eyes a first start in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Injury has kept Davies out of the Southern Brave side but, having now been released by The Hundred franchise, is rated 50-50 to feature in the squad for Sunday’s visit of Durham.

Warwickshire qualified for the knockout stages of the 50-over competition for the first time in seven years with victory over Northamptonshire in a rain-affected 10-over shootout at Edgbaston on Friday.

The Bears vastly superior run rate means that 24-run win has, in all likelihood, banked a home semi-final on Tuesday 29 August.

But Robinson isn’t taking anything for granted and has urged his players to approach the penultimate Group B game with the same focus and professionalism.

“Hundreds of supporters, including lots of children, stayed through the rain and uncertainty on Friday to cheer the lads on. The support has been great…and we want to repay that by giving everyone a day out to remember at Trent Bridge.”

Durham lie sixth in the Group B table with two wins from six – ruling them out of making the knockouts – but Robinson knows they possess some dangerous players who can change games.

“Every side has their danger men and Durham are no different,” he added. “We’ll have to be at our best if we want to keep the winning run going. And that’s what we want to do, we want to qualify with a 100 per cent record.

“I’m hoping Beth (Jacob Bethell) and Henry Brookes will again be free from The Hundred commitments to feature in the squad.

“Tazeem Ali won’t be with us as he’s travelled to Loughborough to join the England U19s squad where I’m sure he’ll shine.”

Hamza Shaikh has also been called up to the England U19s but will remain with the One Day Cup squad for the time being.
