Warwickshire Women will conclude their Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign for 2025 on Saturday when they sign off with a trip to Taunton to take on Somerset.
After their excellent Vitality T20 Blast campaign, in which they finished runners-up to inaugural champions Surrey back in July, the Bears will now aim to end this 50-over campaign on a high by claiming victory at the expense of Somerset, who are currently only a single place above them in the table.
They've already tasted success at Taunton this season, too, when they comfortably overcame their hosts by 22 runs in the Blast group stage, thanks to a notable contribution in the form of a half-century with the bat from Sterre Kalis.
The Bears also toppled Somerset at Edgbaston thanks to an excellent 77 from Laura Harris, from just 34 deliveries, which played no small part in their 69-run success back in June and are now aiming for a seasonal hat-trick spanning two white-ball forms.
There have remained positive aspects to their first One Day Cup campaign, too, on the back of their T20 exploits earlier in the summer, which took them to the brink of silverware, and those aspects can be taken into the new season next year.
Take, for example, the batting of Davina Perrin, who made headlines in The Hundred with a breathtaking 42-ball century for champions Northern Superchargers in their Eliminator match against London Spirit. Perrin, still only 19, scored a classy 113 in Bears colours against Surrey back in July, while Em Arlott played an equally excellent hand when crafting an innings of 130 in the Bears' victory over Essex at Chelmsford back in April.
Wicket keeper Abigail Freeborn, the Bears' leading run scorer in the One Day Cup this year, has often been a dependable source of runs, never more so than when she produced a knock of 94 not out against Hampshire in May.
More recently, exciting talent Amu Surenkumar fell one short of making it consecutive half-centuries when she complemented her knock of 56 against Essex with 49 more against Lancashire last time out.
With the ball, captain Georgia Davis has led by example; her 22 wickets, before the Somerset clash, place her at the top of the bowlers' list for the season at an average of just over 20. There are, then, reasons to be enthusiastic about the prospects of more success next season, for which attention will turn to having hopefully posted a third and final win of the term this weekend.
