Warwickshire return to calmer waters as they head to Trent Bridge to take on Nottinghamshire in the LV= Insurance County Championship.

Following eight Vitality Blast fixtures, Mark Robinson’s side will look to continue their strong start in the four-day game. But make no mistake, Warwickshire’s foot will be firmly on the peddle.

Sitting second, the Bears have secured three wins and a draw from their first five fixtures, with two of those victories coming before the start of the T20 campaign.

“Like a lot of teams around the country we’ll have a mix of players who will be tired from back-to-back games in the Blast and some will be fresh from not being involved.”

How the Bears manage that will be key. After securing a dramatic 30-run victory over the Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Friday, a 13-player squad travelled to the East Midlands this afternoon.

“You acknowledge where you are physically and mentally and work through it,” Robinson added. “We’ll transition to the away ground by putting the kit in the day before, train, look at the wicket, discuss the opposition and dimensions of the ground and it all helps the process of transitioning to red ball.

“It’ll be interesting from an observation point of you on how Dan Mousley and Rob Yates do as it’ll be one of the first times they’ve gone format to format. For the likes of Will Rhodes, OHD and Chris Rushworth they’ll be excited to play and get out there. They’ll be leading the club and representing the Bear in what’s an exciting time of the year.”

Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali will join up with England on Monday ahead of the first Ashes Test, which takes place at Edgbaston, starting Friday. Craig Miles has joined Durham on loan, whilst Liam Norwell remains sidelined.
