Thomas Rew and Dan Lawrence will each captain the England Lions in an official match for the first time. Rew, 18, will lead the T20 team while Dan Lawrence will be in charge for the five-match 50-over series.
Rew captained the Young Lions to the final of the ICC Men’s U19s World Cup earlier this year and has been called into the England Men’s squad for the T20 series in Australia.
Rew, Eddie Jack and James Coles will fly out for that series after the Lions’ third match of their 50-over series in St Kitts and Nevis.
The two squads include nine players who were announced amongst the new Central Contracts earlier this week. Ahmed, Sam Cook and Lawrence are on full Central Contracts with Mason Crane, Eddie Jack, Ben McKinney, Liam Patterson-White as well as Coles and Rew on Development Deals.
Worcestershire’s Adam Finch is the one uncapped Lions player in the squad.
England Lions Head Coach, Jonathan Trott, said: “I’m excited to get to work with a hugely talented group of players starting with this white-ball tour of the Caribbean.
“I’ve spoken about how important the Lions was in my career and now it’s my role to help prepare younger players for what lays ahead of them in international cricket.
“I also want to create a culture where England players will benefit from coming back and working in this environment to push for national team selection across formats and by performing and helping the Lions to win games of cricket.
“This squad has a mix of Centrally Contracted and Development Contract players which reflects some of the highest performing and most precious talent around the game.”
