Gleeson wants Bears to keep momentum rolling against Glamorgan

Richard Gleeson is looking for Warwickshire Bears to pick up a fourth win a row when they head to Cardiff to face Glamorgan in another huge Vitality Blast clash on Friday 3 July.

The Bears have responded to a tough start in the Blast by earning three victories in a row to reignite their campaign, and the experienced seamer believes confidence is beginning to grow at exactly the right time in a packed run of fixtures.

“Momentum is massive in T20 cricket,” said Gleeson. “You can get into a rut and it seems to carry on, but when you start to win and things start to tick, it's very easy to roll that momentum into the next game.

"It's a nice start to a very busy period. We need to recover well, do our plans, and then hit the ground running again on Friday."

Gleeson has made an instant impact since returning to the team following a spell with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL.

The 38-year-old was at his best in the Bears’ victory on Wednesday night at Edgbaston, ending with figures of four for 19 from three overs as the hosts eased to a 77-run victory against Sussex.

Gleeson took three Sussex wickets in his third over, and could’ve claimed three in a row if not for Tymal Mills digging out the hat-trick ball.

The Bears now face an in-form Glamorgan side on their own patch, with the Sophie Gardens outfit having won four of their last five in the Blast. While Warwickshire have found form, Gleeson insists there will be no complacency.

“Cardiff is somewhere different for us,” he added. “We've not played much cricket there, so that's something we'll have to do our homework on and be ready to execute.

“We've had some good performances, so we're not expecting to walk in there and roll them over. We're on a good run and hopefully we can keep that going."

“We've put ourselves in a position where we need all the wins, so let's go out there and get those and worry about the rest of it when it comes.”
