England and Pakistan meet at Edgbaston for the sixth time in ODIs and, as part of the build-up, 15 Year 5 and 6 children from Montgomery Primary Academy in Sparkbrook were able to speak to the Pakistan all-rounder, who has made 102 international appearances to date.
The digital session gave the youngsters an insight into life as a professional cricketer and what it takes to reach the top as an elite level Muslim athlete, managing nutrition and the commitments in the religious calendar, including Ramadan.
The Edgbaston Foundation also presented tickets to tomorrow’s big match to several youngsters and student received a plastic cricket bat to enable them to continue their cricketing experience out of school.
“We’re very grateful to PCB and Imad for giving up his time today and for giving such a fantastic insight to life as a professional athlete. From healthy eating to benefits of regular exercise, hopefully his talk can inspire many of the youngsters here today and that the plastic bats allow them to continue their cricketing journey beyond school.”
