Davis to leave Bears

Georgia Davis will leave Warwickshire Bears at the end of the season following unsuccessful discussions to extend her contract.

Ali Maiden, Bears Women Head Coach, said: “We’re sad to see Georgia go, but after lengthy discussions it became clear that the right thing to do was for her to progress her career elsewhere and for us to focus on building a team of young professional women’s players that can grow into a successful Bears team.

“We’ve got several players in and around the England set-up including Issy Wong and Davina Perrin, as well as people like Charis Pavely who has had a breakthrough year with the bat and been rewarded with England honours.

“Sophie Beech has come through our academy and signed her first rookie contract with other exciting prospects likely to progress in the coming years. Several players have already re-signed contracts for 2027 and we will be announcing them shortly, as well as additions for next season which will bring in experience to support the young squad where needed.

“As we enter our third year as a professional set-up, we are pro-actively focusing on building a young squad, backed up by a strong academy, which will form the backbone of a successful Bears team for years to come.”

Davis was named the inaugural Bears Women Captain ahead of their first professional season in 2025 and helped lead the playing group through the transition from Central Sparks to the professional game. She also helped the Bears reach the Vitality Blast final in 2025, during their maiden professional year.

Davis said: “Warwickshire has been a massive part of my cricket career for the past 17 years and it is extremely sad to be leaving a club that has played such a significant role in my life and development as a player.

“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has invested their time, energy and passion into women’s cricket at Warwickshire and helped create the opportunities that players have today. Most of all, I’ll take away some brilliant memories and relationships with the girls and people I’ve shared this journey with.

“I wish the players and everyone involved at the club every success for the future, and I’m now really looking forward to the next chapter of my career.”
