After a two-month break in red-ball cricket, Warwickshire returned at home against Sussex. Chris Woakes was the hero, seeing the Bears to the required total, nine wickets down. It was a vital win, and it was one that sparked their title charge. They would go on to record four more wins in their next five games to win the title.

Catches taken by Rob Yates. Yates has had a staggering season at second slip to go with scoring over 700 runs at the top of the order for the Bears. With 39 catches, he has taken 14 more than any other outfielder in county cricket. That stat in itself is remarkable. Yates has even taken more catches than eight other wicket keepers that have played ten or more matches this season. He can lay claim to having the best pair of hands on the county circuit.

Bowling points secured. Warwickshire claimed 41 of a possible 42 bowling bonus points throughout the season thanks to their relentless efforts with the ball. It was a team effort, with Ethan Bamber, Ed Barnard, Chris Woakes, Manav Suthar, Olly Hannon-Dalby, Nathan Gilchrist, Jordan Thompson, Michael Booth, Beau Webster and Keith Barker the key contributors with the ball.

The number of wickets taken by Ethan Bamber. A career-best season from the right-arm opening bowler was a key reason why Warwickshire maintained their title push. After signing from Middlesex ahead of the 2025 season, Bamber has been exceptional for the Bears, with his return of 69 wickets this year coming at an average of 19.39. There are several other impressive numbers you could attribute to Bamber this season. His 445.3 overs bowled are more than anyone else in First Class cricket. Over the final block of six games, Bamber took 32 wickets at an average of just 12.71, during which time he claimed three of his season's four five-wicket hauls. It is the highest wicket haul from a Bears bowler since Jeetan Patel in 2016 – he also took 69.

The number of runs scored by Sam Hain. It’s been another outstanding season for the top-order batter, with his second century of the season, in the season-ending game against Leicestershire, seeing him pass 1,000 runs for the second time in his career. The last of those came in 2022. Hain has been one of the most dominant and consistent performers in First Class cricket for several years and now has over 8,500 runs for Warwickshire.

Injury substitutions made this year. Warwickshire were the only county not to make one this season, highlighting the outstanding work done off the field by the backroom staff to best-prepare the squad.

Points tally for 2026. The one number that truly matters. Seven wins, one loss and six draws. A 20-point gap between first and second place. That points total would’ve been enough to secure Warwickshire the title in both 2023 and 2025.

Division One titles. Warwickshire’s triumph in 2026 is their ninth County Championship title, adding to those won in 1911, 1951, 1972, 1994, 1995, 2004, 2012 and 2021. Alongside Lancashire, the Bears are now the joint fourth most successful county in terms of Championships won.
