Briggs: "We've got a huge five weeks ahead"

Briggs: It is a big game, a crucial game and a local derby

Briggs has returned from The Hundred where, along with fellow spinner Jake Lintott and bowling coach Graeme Welch, he was one of three Bears who helped power Southern Brave to glory.

And he reckons the trio bringing that winning feeling back to Edgbaston can only help ahead of the Vitality Blast quarter-final against Kent and then the championship run-in.

"Jake was fantastic and showed his skills with the ball and Pop was brilliant around the whole team, especially the bowlers," Briggs said. "Alex Davies, who will be joining us, played a big part too and it was great for some Bears to experience that winning mentality.

Briggs has settled brilliantly in his first season at Warwickshire, providing a calm influence in the dressing room, a potent lead to the spin attack and important runs at vital times down the order.

Bears confirm T20 Roadshow with games versus representative league teams

He would love to round off the campaign with some silverware, having done well in The Hundred where he had the fifth best average (17.57) of bowlers who delivered 90 balls or more

"It was a great month," he said. "The change of rules took a bit of adjusting to and I think in the early games we were all getting used to it, but then we found our best way and got some momentum and it took us all the way. The same basics of bowling apply, though sometimes it was quite nice to come off after five balls!

"I was fairly pleased with the way I bowled. It was disappointing to play only five games but that's franchise cricket. When they went with the extra seamer in the eliminator and bowled Trent Rockets out for 96, I didn't think there was much chance of me coming back in for the final!

"But I really enjoyed the experience overall. I think The Hundred was a real success and will only go from strength to strength. Even more world class players will take part in it in future years and I think it will also act as a real spur for players in domestic cricket."
