Bears skipper Davis looks ahead to busy summer on the week general sale opens!

Warwickshire Bears skipper Georgia Davis is eyeing up the first Vitality Blast match at Edgbaston as an opportunity to make a statement, as excitement builds towards a jam-packed summer with general sale tickets on sale on Wednesday, 18 February.

The Bears face Somerset in a double-header at Edgbaston on 24 May to get the home T20 summer underway, with tickets for that opening match just £15.

They will be looking to make a flying start to the summer and replicate their excellent form from 2025, when they excelled in the Vitality Blast, making it all the way to the final.

Davis says teams will fear the Bears as they eye up silverware and look to go one better in the Vitality Blast this year.

They had a fantastic campaign in the 2025 summer, battling all the way to the inaugural Women’s Vitality Blast Final, dismantling The Blaze in the semi-final thanks to an inspired performance from Issy Wong.

Unfortunately, they fell just short of creating history, as they were beaten by Surrey in a final held at their home ground, the Kia Oval.

Davis said: “I was really proud of the girls last year. We were the underdogs going into that competition, and I think teams will be fearful of us now and know what we’re capable of.

“If we can go that one step further, then the pride would be fantastic; it would be amazing.”

“Getting to Finals Day in the T20 and then winning the semi-final was brilliant. We’re targeting that finals day again this year, hopefully two finals days if we can, and then getting that silverware is always the number one goal.”

In 2026, the Bears face Surrey in a mouthwatering double header at Edgbaston on 26 June, beginning with a replay of last year's Vitality Blast final, followed by the local derby, Bears vs Pears.

It was a momentous season for the Women’s side in 2025, with plenty of firsts and a host of records broken during the debut year of professional women’s cricket in the UK.

26-year-old Davis made her own personal history as she became the first Warwickshire women’s captain of the professional era, and also finished as the top wicket-taker in the inaugural Women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Davis says the Bears have been working hard during pre-season in scenario-based training to ensure they are sharp and have the edge on their opponents come April.

“Post-Christmas, we’ve been doing more competition-based stuff. We get into teams and play 50-over and T20 scenarios, but it’s good prep and gets us going heading into the season.

“A really big thing was running between the wickets. I think we were one of the best teams at doing that last year. It’s something we’ve used in our scenario-based training, and it is something that Ali is always keen to push and something everyone has bought into.”

The Bears get their season underway in just under two months, and immediately have the chance to right some wrongs as they face Surrey in their first One Day Cup game at Edgbaston on 11 April.
