Babar Azam to lead 17-player Pakistan squad in England Test series

Pakistan have named a 17-player squad for the three-Test series taking place against England this summer, with Edgbaston Stadium set to host the third and final Test.

Babar Azam returns as captain of the red-ball side, after previously holding the role between 2021 and 2023, while there are four uncapped players also selected.

Left-arm spinner Ali Usman, right-handed batter Muhammad Awais Zafar, right-arm pace bowler Ubaid Shah and wicket-keeper batter Muhammad Ghazi Ghori are all in line for a first Test start for their country.

Limited tickets remain available for all five days of the Edgbaston Test, with tickets for day three 90% sold.

Azam, who has over 14,000 runs across formats for his country, including 4,400 in Tests, takes over the captaincy from Shan Masood who retains his place as a batter.

There’s also place in the squad for the likes of right-arm quick Mohammad Abbas and regular in the Pakistan side for several years, experienced batter Mohammad Rizwan.

The three-Test series gets under way on Wednesday 19 August at Headingley, before the series travels south to Lord's the second Test from Thursday 27 August.

Edgbaston then hosts the final Test of the English summer from Wednesday 9 September, with a new-look England looking to rebuild following their recent series defeat to New Zealand. Buy your tickets here.
