The competition begins this week, with both Phoenix teams playing Trent Rockets at Edgbaston on Friday 24 July. Tickets are still available. Austin was announced as a Phoenix player in June, coming in as an injury replacement for Cordelia Griffiths, while Taylor was one of two Wildcard Picks selected by the Phoenix later that month.
With the Phoenix assembling an all-star cast during the first The Hundred auction earlier this year, Austin, who has scored runs aplenty for Warwickshire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup this year, can’t wait to get started, and is particularly looking forward to playing with Australian great Ellyse Perry.
“I'm buzzing to get back out there with the girls and be around the group,” she said. “It will be exciting to get out there and be part of the competition.
“It's encouraging knowing that we've got some girls feeding through from Warwickshire into the Phoenix. It just shows that we're doing the right things
“I got to catch Ellyse Perry at the back end of last year’s The Hundred when I came in as an injury replacement, but I’m looking forward to seeing how she goes about her business for the whole campaign. I’m hoping to have more conversations with her which would be pretty cool.”
Taylor is also experienced in playing at Edgbaston having represented Warwickshire Bears during the 2026 season, making an impact with both bat and ball in her debut season in the West Midlands.
Snapped up by the Phoenix with the first of two Wildcard Picks, Taylor made two appearances for Birmingham in last year’s The Hundred and is looking to make an impact amongst a fresh new squad this summer.
“I was here last year, so I’m happy to be back at Edgbaston,” she said. “It's a bit of a different group to last year, so it’ll be good to get on the pitch with a different group.
“I’ll be bringing loads of energy. That's when I play my best cricket, when I’m energised. I feel like I can bring that to the team and hopefully we can win.”
Phoenix Women take on Trent Rockets on Friday 24 July at 3:00pm, before Phoenix Men play at 6:30pm.
