Austin and Brett sign Bears contract extensions

Meg Austin and Phoebe Brett have both signed contract extensions, keeping them with Warwickshire County Cricket Club until at least 2027.

The duo have committed their respective futures to the Bears after impressive 2025 seasons, with Austin providing positive contributions with the bat and Brett showing her promise with the ball during her first year as a professional.

Austin, who showcased her early prowess by amassing over 750 runs in the Academy and Seconds in 2024, made her presence known in the senior side in her breakout 2025 season.

She enjoyed a solid season with the bat as the Bears reached the inaugural women’s Vitality Blast Final, with a top score of 51 from 38 balls as the Bears swept aside Hampshire to record their third win in four games during the group stage.

The 21-year-old batter is now looking forward to progressing further with the Bears.

Brett’s maiden professional year saw her spend time on loan at Worcestershire from the Warwickshire Academy, but the Bears secured her services for the Vitality Blast where she went on to make five appearances and take six wickets.

She was then selected as the wildcard for The Hundred and impressed by taking four wickets in her three matches, including best figures of 3-19 against the Trent Rockets.

The left-arm spinner, still only 17 years old, wants to now cement her place in the Bears’ bowling attack and ensure she is a mainstay in a successful side.
