The energetic all-rounder has been selected for a 22-day England Lions winter training camp that aims to understand the depth of England’s pathway whilst providing developmental experiences for high-potential players closely aligned to England’s future needs.
While full details of the tour have been kept under wraps, 21 players will fly out to the UAE on Thursday (16th) to showcase their red-ball skills.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Mousley from the Bears Den TV studio. “When I got the call from Mo Bobat to say that I was on a Lions training camp I was really happy.
“We’re preparing for a Lions Test tour of India after Christmas and hopefully I can get selected for that, but I’m not really thinking too far ahead, although I know that’s a bit cliche. I’m just trying to show my ability and learn as much as I can off the coaches and the players out there.”
Dan’s first taste of a full calendar of domestic cricket was a success.
After picking up different finger injuries in 2021 and 2022, he played 33 times across the LV= Insurance County Championship and Vitality Blast, scoring 884 runs across both formats, plus 22 wickets in the shorter format.
“I’ll just try and enjoy it as I do put myself under pressure. I’m not going to lie about that. I know what I want in the game of cricket. I want to win trophies for Warwickshire and I want to play for England too.
“So when I get there I’ll just try and show how good I am and I’m not going to change the way I play. It’s the reason I’ve got to this stage, being aggressive. I’ll just continue how I’ve played the last six months.”
The Men’s first-team squad get just over four weeks off after another gruelling season.
But having received the call a few weeks into the break, Dan was back at Edgbaston, working hard in the nets with Coach Tony Frost.
“I’ve had about two weeks off and I’m not complaining at all!” Mousley concluded.” I love playing and I love being at Edgbaston.
“Even if I’d had six weeks off, I’d still be at the ground seeing everybody. I love being around my teammates and the staff. I’ve been in the gym, running, playing golf, and just trying to stay as active as I possibly can to be ready. I’m ready to attack the winter.”
