Robinson reflects on rain-affected Lancashire stalemate

Having won the toss and choosing to bat, the Bears were on top throughout the rain-affected content and were looking to push home their advantage with a 231-run lead.

But as heavy showers thwarted any chance of play in the morning, a break in the weather saw the game resume at 3.15pm with a generous Warwickshire declaration giving Lancashire the opportunity to embark on a desperate run chase with 44 overs still scheduled.

"It feels like a loss if I'm honest," said the First Team Coach. "If we'd have played three quarters, or even half a day, I think we'd have had a comfortable victory, but as it was, we were going to get a cracking finish.

"Going back to that Chelmsford game we knew we let ourselves down in 18 overs of cricket. My biggest fear was loss of confidence or taking that baggage from that game into this one, but the Captain led the way and got us into a position where we had a good score.

"The reduced game with less overs puts Lancashire back in the game, because they've got enough time to shut up shop, but bravely, and correctly, they were going for it as well so we would have had a classic."
