Coventry and North Warwickshire CC set to play Warwickshire Select XI in 175th anniversary match

A Select XI of boys and girls from the Warwickshire academy will make the trip to Coventry and North Warwickshire Cricket Club this Friday to play a match which marks the 175th anniversary of the club

Coventry and North Warwickshire CC (CNWCC) is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year - and to mark the occasion they will take on a Warwickshire County Age Group Select XI at their home this Friday (21 August).

CNWCC, whose first XI are in the Warwickshire County Cricket League Premier Division, were founded in 1851 and were one of the first grounds Warwickshire County Cricket Club historically used before permanently relocating to Edgbaston.

To acknowledge a notable milestone, CNWCC will host a side made up of talented boys and girls from the Bears’ academy in a showcase T20 match this week.

The match will be preceded by junior coaching sessions, delivered on the outfield by the young Bears players, who will spend time engaging and coaching prior to taking to the field themselves.

There are expected to be in the region of 60-70 youngsters from the local area in attendance as part of the activation process and they will be granted free batting and bowling drills pre-match.

The match begins at 4:30pm, admission is free for all who wish to come along and there will be on-site catering, a drinks bar and music as part of what promises to be an enjoyable evening for all in attendance, to recognise a landmark anniversary in the history of one of Warwickshire’s oldest cricket clubs.
