Want to coach?

Whether you are just starting out or an experienced coach, the Warwickshire Cricket Board offers a number of development courses to take your coaching skills to the next level.

Courses are available now, download from the top right of this page.

Detailed below are the courses currently offered by the WCB.

ECB Cricket Young Leaders Award

Specifically aimed at 14-18 year olds, the Cricket Young Leaders award is to designed to raise the profile of cricket within the Young Leaders’ Scheme (an Explorer Scout programme), inspire Young Leaders to actively involve themselves with cricket and help provide additional support for Kwik Cricket tournaments.

Once a candidate has completed 10 hours of volunteering, he or she can choose to receive a ‘Get Involved’ certificate. This certificate can then be used as evidence in logging volunteer hours for a range of volunteer and sports leadership awards, such as the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, Community Sports Leader Award (CSLA) and Junior Sports Leader Award (JSLA).

Cricket For Teachers (Primary) Key Stage 2 (7 – 11 years)

Designed to help primary school teachers understand the coaching process and provide ideas as to how to incorporate cricket and cricket skills into the National Curriculum Aspects of Knowledge, the Cricket For Teachers course enables teachers to not only develop interesting and educational PE lessons but also develop their only coaching skills. Specific benefits include:

Coaches are required to renew their First Aid and Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificates every three years. The WCB therefore run these courses biannually, in spring and autumn.

Coach Development Workshops

The primary target audience for the new Coach Development Workshops is coaches who have attended the new UKCC2 course. These workshops (plus the Club Coach Assessment) are designed to act as ‘stepping stones’ for individuals who wish to work towards attending either the UKCC3 course or the Club Coach Course.

Coaches can also access these as CPD (Continual Professional Development). A certificate of attendance will be issued for each workshop attended.

Holding a CRB, a valid First Aid Certificate and a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Certificate is a pre-requisite for attending the workshops.
