Tim Ambrose

BORN: 01/12/82, Newcastle, Australia

ROLE: Wicketkeeper; Right-hand bat

BEST TWENTY20 PERFORMANCE: 77 v Gloucestershire Gladiators, Bristol 2007

The mighty atom in the Warwickshire ranks is a fierce competitor. Behind the stumps, where his tidy glovework and positive attitude has members recalling the pomp of Keith Piper, Ambrose keeps the team ticking over. An intelligent man on and off the field, he is considered to be one of county cricket's best keeper-batsmen, a fact recognised by England when he was selected for 11 Tests between 2008-2009. Ambrose did very little wrong in those games, making his maiden Test century against New Zealand and keeping wicket tidily. For Warwickshire, whom he joined from Sussex in time for the 2006 season, he has a highest first-class score of 251*, a Championship medal, and the envy of a dressing room who marvel at the brilliance of his guitar playing.
