Steffan Piolet
BORN: 08/08/88, Redhill
ROLE: Right-arm medium-pace; Right-hand bat
BEST TWENTY20 PERFORMANCE: 2-17 v Glamorgan Dragons at The SWALEC Stadium, 30/05/09
An adaptable cricketer if ever there was one, Piolet has rapidly made a name for himself as the player Warwickshire throw the ball to when they need to stem the run-rate during the middle overs of a Twenty20 match, as his canny medium-pace, well-disguised slower-balls and accurate yorker make him a difficult bowler to get away and have helped strangle many an opposition’s run-chase. Primarily considered a batsman, Piolet has scored heavily in Second XI cricket and provides valuable depth to the Warwickshire batting line-up, whilst his electric fielding, whether in the ring or sweeping out on the boundary, only adds further to his all-round value. A player with a big future in the game, expect him to play a crucial role in Ashley Giles’ plans this season.
