Richard Johnson

BORN: 01/09/88, Solihull

ROLE: Wicketkeeper; Right-hand bat

BEST TWENTY20 PERFORMANCE: N/A

Despite his relative youth, Johnson has been a regular in Warwickshire’s Second XI for some time now, impressing many observers with his slick glovework, keen cricketing brain and resourceful batting. He made his first team debut back in 2008 against Northants Steelbacks in the now defunct Friends Provident Trophy and instantly looked right at home, scoring a brisk 20 off 23 deliveries and keeping wicket tidily, but the presence of the formidable Tim Ambrose has meant he has had to be patient and bide his time for further opportunities. However, he looks set to enjoy a run in the team this season and will be keen to demonstrate just how capable a cricketer he has become. Renowned as one of the best sweepers in club, expect him to entertain Warwickshire supporters and frustrate his opponents in equal measure.
