Ian Bell
BORN: 04/11/82, Walsgrave, Coventry
ROLE: Right-hand bat
BEST TWENTY20 PERFORMANCE: 66* v Northants, Edgbaston
Although Bell's appearances at Edgbaston are infrequent due to his England commitments, it is always a special moment when he walks out to bat for his beloved Bears. A local lad made good, Bell is the most stylish batsman of his generation, a touch player in the mould of a right-handed David Gower. Spectators have watched his development ever since he began scoring runs for England under 19s at the age of 16. A Test player at 21, and now, at 27, Bell is a fixture in England's middle order, with 10 Test hundreds. He was the standout player during England's winter tours, and everyone associated with Warwickshire will be wishing he carries on that stellar form during the summer. Having not appeared in England's recent ODI matches, there is every chance Bell's uniquely elegant batsmanship will adorn this year's Twenty20 jamboree.
