DAY 2

Warwickshire found conditions very much against them on the second morning as the experienced Nottinghamshire seam attack made inroads into their upper order, with Andre Adams in particular proving almost impossible to score off.

Ian Westwood was first to go, edging Sidebottom to Chris Read for nineteen and after a period of resistance between Maddy and Chopra, both batsmen fell within the space of five runs to Andre Adams who also sandwiched between them, trapped Jim Troughton lbw without scoring.

At one point Adams had taken three wickets for no runs from eight straight maiden overs.

Rikki Clarke and Ateeq Javid survived to lunch when the Bears were 77-4.

After lunch the Bears' batting fell away rapidly to Sidebottom and Franks after Clarke edged Franks to Read, Javid offered no shot to a ball that took his middle and off stumps out of the ground.

Ambrose edged Sidebottom to slip and both Barker and Tahir followed in similar fashion before a last wicket flurry between Woakes19* and Rankin 13 a career best, saw the total reach 121 when Sidebottom's diving  catch brought proceedings to a close.

Enforcing the follow-on, Nottinghamshire were looking for early wickets as Warwickshire began their second innings and Westwood and Chopra began well, putting on an opening partnership of forty eight before Westwood's inside ege went into his stumps.

Maddy and Chopra, who completed a maiden half century for Warwickshire, appeared to be playing comforably until Maddy pulled Adams loosely to mid- wicket and this began a terminal slide as the last eight second innings wickets crashed for just sixty five runs to the seam attack of Sidebottom, Adams and Franks.

Sidebpttom bowled, Chopra 54 and Clarke in the same over and when Troughton and Ambrose followed in consecutive deliveries four overs later, Sidebottom had taken four wickets in just 14 deliveries.

Javid was bowled for the second time in a day by Adams while Sidebottom collected a fifth wicket of the innings when Barker edged to Read.

The rest was just whether the match would go into a third day as Franks collected the wickets of Imran and Woakes  after Nottinghamshire had claimed the extra half an hour to finish the match.

The margin of defeat was an innings and fifty five runs after the Bears had lost twenty wickets in the day for two hundred and sixty runs.

Nottinghamshire took 22 points and Warwickshire 3 points

DAY 1

Chris Read's decision to bat on the opening morning looked to be a good one as Nottinghamshire scored quickly reaching the break on 130-3 after Rankin had Hales caught by Ambrose for nine and Woakes repeated the dismissal for Wood 15 as the home openers went ealry in the morning.

Patel looked to be in great touch scoring seven consecutive boundaries before edging the accurate Maddy to Javis at slip, who tiook a good tumbling catch for thirty four.

David Hussey was given a let-off when dropped at slip before scoring and with Wagh, took the home side to the break on 130-3.

After lunch, Woakes made a double breakthrough for the Bears, when Hussey chopped a ball into his stumps and Mark Wagh, after completing his half century was well caught by Maddy at slip.

Chris Read 45 and Ali Brown 48* laid into the Bears' attack until Maddy struck , just before tea, bowling Read after the sixth wicket pair had added eighty three runs in eighteen overs as Nottinghamshire were 253-6 at the break.

In the final session of the day, Imran had Franks lbw and Rikki Clarke bowled Adams, but Brown continued to help Nottinghamshire reach a third batting point after reaching his fifty.

It was Rankin returning to take the new ball who finally mopped up the innings, when Brown was caught on the mid-wicket boundary by Chopra and Maddy's catch at slip from Pattison saw the  home side dismissed for 328.

There was timew for six overs before the close which Warwickshire survived to close on 13-0
