Warwickshire Seconds draw

Warwickshire drew the friendly match against Middlesex at Radlett, closing the final day on 278-7 in their second innings after being set a target of 338 to win.

DAY 3

Middlesex extended their overall lead to 338 on the third morning before declaring their second inings on 233-3 with Paul Best taking both of the wickets to fall during the morning session.

With a minimum of seventy two overs available to reach the tatget, Warwickshire lost early wickets before a fourth wicket stand of sixty nine between Nathan Newport 80 and Ateeq Javid 52, steadied the innings.

Paul Best 25* and Calum MacLeod 36* were together in an unbroken eighth wicket partnership when the match finally ended as a draw with Warwickshire 278-7 off 71 overs.

 

DAY 2

Warwickshire were bowled out on the second day by Middlesex for 219 in seventy nine overs at Radlett, with Ant Botha top scoring on 75 while Ateeq Javid made 42. For Middlesex, Robbie Williams took 4-71.

In their second innings, Middlesex with first innings century maker, Robson 70*, going well again, were 126-1 at the close, holding a useful 230 run lead going into the final day.

Steff Piolet was the sole wicket taker for Warwickshire.

DAY 1

Middlesex won the toss and batted ar Radlett on the opening day of the three day friendly match,

Robson 115 dominaed the first two sessions of the day and with the help of London 71, took Middlesex on to a strong position on 241-2 before Steff Piolet's accurate seamers helped restore the balance as the home side fell away to be all out for 323.

Piolet was the pick of the Bears' bowlers, taking 6-75 and Calum MacLeod took two wickets in support.

By the close of the opening day, Warwickshire were 36-1 with James Ord an early casualty, before Newport 22* and Chopra 8* saw them through without further loss.
