After losing the toss, Warwickshire struck in the second over of the day when Boyd Rankin’s first Championship delivery of the season trapped Luke Sutton lbw.
Moore completed his fifty immediately before lunch when Lancashire were 95-2.
Prince was bowled around his legs and Imran dismissed Moore for sixty one, before Miller struck twice after tea.
Westwood took the new ball and was rewarded with the wicket of Procter, but Chapple added fifty with Croft, before Miller’s third wicket of the session saw Lancashire go to stumps on 323-8.
After dismissing Lancashire for 354 the Bears found Lancashire's opening pair of Mahmood and Chapple almost unplayable as their first six batsmen lost their wickets for single figure scores, reducing them to 39-6.
Carter completed a half century after lunch as wickets fell around him, being the sole batsman to reach double figures despite a blow to the head. He remained unbeaten on sixty nine in a total of one hundred and thirteen all out.
Lancashire decided not to enforce the follow-on and soon found batting just as difficult when Miller ripped through their top order reducing the visitors to 43-6 at tea having taken 5-18 a career best in the session.
After tea, Chapple and Chilton offered resistance while Mahmood completed his half-century and with James Anderson, returning from being with England in the West Indies, saw Lancashire through to the close on 152-8.
The tail-enders added a further forty seven runs on the third morning before setting the Bears a daunting target of 441 for victory, the highest ever fourth innings total for Warwickshire.
It was Glen Chapple who put the Red Rose county firmly in the driving seat, taking the first four wickets to fall, but Trott and Clarke batted solidly through to tea when Warwickshire were 178-4.
Clarke and Ambrose, fell before the close of the third day, although Trott completed his century, now with Carter, when Warwickshire closed on 263-6.
A superb attacking performance from Trott and Carter on the final morning took the Bears within ninety five runs of victory before Carter was bowled.
Imran and Miller found the pace of England quickie, Anderson, too much and it took just two overs after lunch for Lancashire to claim victory after Trott having completed his 150, was caught by Croft at deep mid-wicket boundary off Mahmood to give the visitors a win by sixty five runs.
