Neil Carter Leads The Way

Neil Carter receives his award from Ashley Giles

Bears all-rounder Neil Carter has won the first monthly FTI MVP award of the 2010 season for impressive performances during April.

Successive five-wicket hauls – including a career-best 9-130 – against Lancashire and Hampshire in the LV= County Championship helped the 35-year-old reach the grand total of 23 wickets in just four matches. The 159 runs that he scored in these outings also contributed to his overall MVP score of 134 points.

Commenting on his achievement, Neil Carter said: ''It's fantastic to be named the first monthly FTI MVP award winner for my performances with Warwickshire CCC. I'm a big fan of the FTI MVP Rankings – they're a great indicator of form and performance – and I just hope I can keep it going over the next five months.''

Julia Walker-Wallace, Senior Managing Director of FTI Consulting Inc (this year's MVP sponsor), commented: "The FTI MVP provides a statistical analysis of the contribution each player makes to his team. Neil has had a great start to the season and I am delighted that he has been recognised as our first FTI MVP monthly winner."

A monthly FTI MVP award will be announced throughout the summer for the leading player across the LV= County Championship, Friends Provident t20 and Clydesdale Bank 40. Awards are also presented to the leading domestic player at the end of each county season and the leading England player at the end of the domestic international season and again following the winter tour.
