Inner City Coaching

Warwickshire Cricket Board has teamed up with the Lord’s Taverners, Street Chance, Sport Unlimited, Lordswood School, the MEB and Saltley Community Leisure Centre to put on accessible cricket coaching courses for youngsters in Inner City areas of Birmingham where there are few or no local clubs. All coaching schemes are now up and running and will last for most of the summer.

Coaching sessions available are as follows:

  • Mondays in Sparkhill Park, 6-8pm for 8-16s, free
  • Tuesdays at the MEB, Small Heath, 6-8pm for 8-15s, free
  • Tuesdays at Lordswood School, Edgbaston, 5-6.30pm for 8-11s and 6.30-8pm for 12-15s, free
  • Saturdays at Saltley Leisure Centre, 9.30-11.30 for 8-14s, £3

The WCB recognizes the massive demand for cricket in the City and will look to further develop these schemes in the future. It’s an exciting summer for Birmingham with Pakistan arriving soon to take on Australia in two Twenty20 internationals v Australia (5th and 6th July) and the big Test Match, England v Pakistan from 6th to 10th August at Edgbaston as well as the ODI, England v Bangladesh, 12th July.
