Get ready for a carnival atmosphere this summer as Edgbaston, the ‘Home of Atmosphere’, hosts the UK’s first ever day/night Investec Test Match when England take on the West indies in August.

Edgbaston is recognised worldwide for its fancy dress and memorable atmosphere and it simply never fails to deliver. The England boys love playing at “Fortress Edgbaston” and have now won the last 6 games in Birmingham across all three formats. It’s England’s 12th Man and their happiest hunting ground in recent years and this inaugural occasion under the lights is sure to have a typically enjoyable and partisan, Birmingham atmosphere.
Best ground in the country! England lads love playing there! Great atmosphere.
Australia’s Aaron Finch knows exactly how special Edgbaston’s atmosphere is! As England charged to victory over the Aussies in the recent ICC Champions Trophy, thousands of fans gathered in the seats behind where he was fielding, all chanting “Finchy’s going home”. We loved it and we’re sure you did too!

We have a range of fan activities for this unique fixture as well as a number of different initiatives to ensure we provide the best match day experience possible and a truly unforgettable atmosphere. It’s set to be one big party with a capacity crowd and will include:

 • Live music around the ground with a band playing in our Exhibition Hall
 • Fantastic Beach Area which has a range of catering options – perfect destination to start the day!
 • Great interactive cricket activities from sponsors located behind the RES Wyatt Stand
 • Big TV screen in the Beach Area showing the match as well as analysis during intervals
 • Visit our new and improved Real Ale Bars – The Bear and Staff and Moseley Real Ale Bar
 • Kids giveaways as well as a new Kids Lunch box meal to make sure our young supporters enjoy their day
 • Special food and drink offers will be available

England’s favourite ground

England have now lost just once since 2001 at fortress Edgbaston and will be looking to add another victory to mark their 50thTest Match in Birmingham this summer. Since 1902 when Edgbaston hosted its first Test Match, England have recorded an impressive record which includes 26 wins, 15 draws and only 8 losses – its England’s favourite ground!

It’s another win for us at Edgbaston and we had great support again. Everyone was sitting on the balcony watching and the support we have had from the fans all week has been brilliant.

Alastair Cook, England

Joe Root, England’s new Test captain, will be aiming to take the team into an Ashes series ‘down under’ with a series win secured over the Windies.

Edgbaston also has a 20-year association with day/night cricket, after becoming the first cricket venue in the United Kingdom to host a day/night domestic fixture in 1997, as Warwickshire beat Somerset in an AXA Life League match.
