Warwickshire County Cricket Club has reinforced its support for Fisher House by donating £10,000 to fund a room at the ‘home away from home’ for military patients and their families.

The Edgbaston Room at Fisher House is one of several rooms where military patients can stay with their families whilst undergoing treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Warwickshire CCC staff have undertaken a range of fundraising events, including a team Iron Man challenge at the David Lloyd Cranmore Club in Solihull and the annual Community Open Day at Edgbaston, which will take place this year on Sunday 29 May.

Mike Hammond, Chief Executive of QEHB Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the steadfast support from Warwickshire County Cricket Club. While at the charity we attempt to go above and beyond for patients and staff at the QE, Warwickshire CCC goes above and beyond in regard to all of the fundraising they do for Fisher House. The Community Fun Days have been incredibly popular over the past few years, and we hope that 2016’s will be no different!”

Neil Snowball, Chief Executive of Warwickshire CCC, said: “We’ve been proud supporters of Fisher House since the facility opened in 2013, and it’s fantastic to be able to fund one of the rooms for a year and ensure that patients and families can use the facilities during times in need.

“The Community Open Day brings together a range of cricketing and military-themed fun activities here at Edgbaston. It’s completely free for all and we’ve switched to a Sunday this year to give even more opportunity for local recreational cricketers to attend.”

Edgbaston’s Community Open Day includes the annual T20 match between the Warwickshire Legends and the Military Combined Services Team, in addition to a funfair, inflatable assault cause, craft fair, and a display from the world renowned Red Devils parachute display team.

The event is free for all to attend, however those attending are able to make a small donation to QEHB Charity or Fisher House if they wish to do so. Please go to www.qecricket.org in order to sign up to the event or to make an online donation.
