Born: 08/03/91, Nuneaton

Nicknames: None

What’s your first cricket related memory? It would probably be of playing cricket in the backyard with my dad and my older brother when I was about four or five

Who were your cricketing heroes when you were growing up? My ultimate hero was Garry Sobers, the greatest allrounder cricket has ever known. But the player who I suppose I’ve most tried to model my game on is Daniel Vettori, who is arguably the best left-arm spinner in the game at the moment. He’s a very intelligent cricketer who makes the most of his ability with both bat and ball, so as role models go I would say he’s not a bad one to have!

What are your goals for the 2010 season? I’d like to try and feature as much as I can for the second XI and hopefully make my first XI debut at some point. In an ideal world I’ll be helping both those teams pick up some silverware along the line as well!

What are your biggest strengths as a cricketer? I like to think I’ve got a decent cricketing brain and can think on my feet when I’m bowling. I also like to think I vary my pace and flight quite well, but there is always room for improvement there...

How do you spend your time away from cricket? I don’t get up to anything too glamorous if I’m honest; I just do all the normal things like spending time with my family and friends. I also try and read as much as I can

What’s your favourite form of the game? I like them all, they each have something to offer, but if I had to choose just one it would be the four-day game

Finally, if you could meet one famous historical figure, who would it be? Tough one. Let’s go with Shakespeare, I’d try and find out if he really was the genius we all think he was!
