Jim Troughton

Born: 02/03/79, London

Nickname: Troughts

What's your first cricket-related memory? Going to Lord's with my brother and my dad in 1980. I remember going round the outside of the stands, the smell of cigars and beer and Dad saying: "That's Botham playing" and me not really knowing who he was

When did you first realise you could 'go pro'? When I was 16 I realised I could do it as a job. I was captain of the county side for my age group with Andy Flower as coach. We had a lot of chats; he was very professional and helped me a lot

Who were your cricket heroes growing up? Graham Thorpe was a big idol of mine, and I've also been lucky enough to watch and play with some exceptional players during my time at Edgbaston; the likes of Brian Lara, Allan Donald, Shaun Pollock and Kumar Sangakkara

Who have been big influences on your career?  Bob Woolmer was the biggest influence. All the coaches throughout the Warwickshire youth set-up were great but Bob gave me my initial first team call-up. His attitude and passion rubbed off on you

Can you sum up your game in just three words? Entertaining, frustrating, energetic

What are your goals for the 2010 season? Win some trophies for Warwickshire and stay fit

Which Warwickshire player are you tipping for a big year? Chris Woakes. He started his career off well and carried that into his second season, which is normally difficult. I think he'll come on in both his bowling and batting this year

If you could meet one historical figure, who would it be? Julius Caesar. I'd tell him to watch his back

What's the funniest thing you've seen on a cricket pitch? Ashley Giles getting hit in the knee. He didn't see the ball and he did some sort of kung fu-style blind man move

What's your most embarrassing moment in cricket? Batting with a mobile phone in my pocket. I ran three and looked back to see it had fallen out. When I had to ask the umpire to look after it for me, I realised I wasn't Brian Lara

You're down to your last tenner. How do you spend it? On a cheap DVD, some popcorn and a can of Coke Zero

Who's the fittest member of the squad? Darren Maddy. Since coming back from injury he's been a bit of a gym junkie

Who's the slowest between the sticks? Neil Carter. It's like watching an oil tanker turn

Who's the most superstitious member of the squad? Jonathan Trott. Have you not seen him bat?

Which one of your team-mates would you marry (if you had to)? Carter. He's good with money, he can cook and he's tidy

How do you spend your time away from cricket? With the family and going abroad

What's one fact about you that the general public probably don't know? I play the guitar
