What’s your first cricket-related memory? Playing for Longridge, my local club. I’ve played for them since I was seven years old

Who were your cricketing heroes growing up? Glenn McGrath and, as a Lancashire lad, Peter Martin

Who have been the big influences on your career? My dad and Tim Munton

What words would you use to sum up your game? I’d say I’m consistent, patient and laid back

What’s your favourite form of the game? The Championship

Which Warwickshire player, other than yourself, are you tipping for a big season in 2010? Tim Ambrose

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen on a cricket pitch? The most recent one happened last season against Middlesex. Jimmy Anyon was bowling and he hit our keeper, Richard Johnson, flush on the knee. He obviously fell over in agony, tried to stagger to his feet and then fell over again. This happened about three times before he eventually managed to hold it together!

What is your most embarrassing moment in cricket? Having to explain to the umpire that I needed to leave the field because our physio had rubbed too much Deep Heat into my back and I was in agony. I had to run back into the pavilion and wash it off in the shower!

Who's the fittest member of the squad? Ian Westwood

Who's the slowest runner? Ashley Giles is pretty slow, but from the actual squad I’ll say Boyd Rankin. He’s got a big frame that he has to move about!

Who's the most superstitious member of the squad? Jonathan Trott

If you had to marry one of your Warwickshire team-mates, which one would it be? I’ll say Richard Johnson. We get on pretty well and would probably avoid killing each. At least for a little bit!
