The 1995 Championship Team
After the unparalleled success of 1994, the summer of 1995 saw the team move to within a whisker of repeating their amazing treble trophy success, and finally it was only run-rate which denied the side the elusive AXA League trophy success leaving the team as 'mere' double Champions. The same combination of Reeve and Munton at the helm was complemented by the addition of new Director of Coaching, Phil Neale, after he replaced Bob Woolmer, who decided to move to South Africa as their national coach. Allan Donald returned as the side's overseas player. Bowling in excess of 500 overs during the summer, he regularly decimated many batting line-ups around the country with his ferocious pace and swing, finishing with 89 wickets at an average of 16.07. Hard work, good humour and an excellent team spirit were amongst the ingredients that helped to create a healthy working environment so conducive to success. As a team the collective talents of the players outweighed any individual weaknesses and Warwickshire established a new benchmark for the game, which many other Counties could only aspire to achieve. Six trophies won in 24 months made Warwickshire the most successful team in modern county cricket history, possibly of all time.
