The 1911 Championship Team
Under the inspiring leadership of their young captain Frank Foster, Warwickshire won the championship for the first time. Although the skipper, with 1383 runs (average 44.61) and 116 wickets was the outstanding individual player he had the support of a talented and united team. Sep Kinneir, Crowther Charlesworth and Billy Quaife also exceeded 1000 runs and wicket-keeper "Tiger" Smith scored more than 800. Foster's main bowling support came from fast bowler Frank Field who took 122 county championship wickets in what was by far his best ever season, while long serving bowler Syd Santall chipped in with 51 wickets.. Young batsman Jack Parsons showed great promise with 550 runs (average 23.91).
