Academy

Background

The Warwickshire County Cricket Club Academy opened on Sept 1st 2001 as one of the first County Academies to be approved by the ECB. Each year up to 12 players are selected between the ages of 15 and 19 who have the potential to play at the highest level.

The County Academy is an integral part of the ECB world class Performance plan and it is envisaged that many of the National Academy and International players of the future will come via the County Academies. We have the responsibility of identifying, selecting and developing the next generation of Warwickshire and England players and to date our success has been more than encouraging.

Ateeq Javid a member of the 2008 Academy has moved on to the full playing staff for 2009

Helen Shipman is the first female player to join the Warwickshire Academy for the 2009 season

Shozair Ali and Tom Milnes were the opening bowlers for England Under 15's in 2007

Helen, Tom and Shozair all graduated to the Academy programme from the Emerging Players programme

In addition to those listed as Academy members below, Freddie Coleman (Scotland), Shane Getkate (Ireland) and Ben Williams (Shrewsbury School) are all attached to the Academy programme
